The purpose of breast implant revision surgery is to replace old breast implants with new implants. Usually, the aim is to change or improve the appearance of the breasts while updating the implant material
In some cases, women who have undergone breast augmentation want to change the size, shape, placement or contour of their implants. Breast implants are subject to the same forces as all breasts, such as gravity and skin stretching. In some cases, the breast implant may be well placed, but slippage may be observed over time. In rare cases, an implant may be underfilled or rupture.
In some patients, a breast implant revision may be performed years after the initial cosmetic surgery to repair hardened scar tissue known as capsular contracture and to correct other such conditions.
During the first examination, the breasts are examined to determine the current condition of the implants.
During the procedure, incisions are made depending on the desired changes to the breasts. After the procedure, it is recommended to wear a bandage around your breast for a few days and then wear a sports bra.
