MASTOPEXY

Mastopexy, also called breast lift, is an operation where a surgeon places your nipple higher on your chest wall. It also removes excess skin and tightens the surrounding tissue.

HOW IS MASTOPEXY SURGERY PERFORMED?

In breast lift surgery, the appropriate position of your nipple is marked. Then, the procedure is started by bringing you to the operating room where you will receive general anaesthesia or sedation. Excess skin is removed and breast tissue is lifted. If implants are to be implanted, the implants are placed and then the breasts are closed and bandaged.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF MASTOPEXY?

Possible risks of mastopexy are as follows:

Scars.

Changes in nipple or breast sensation: This usually returns within a few weeks, but can sometimes be permanent.

Breasts of different shapes or sizes: The breasts heal at a different rate, which can result in the appearance of breasts of different shapes and sizes.
