BREAST IMPLANT REMOVAL

Breast implant removal is performed for the purpose of removing breast implants. During the operation, scar tissue or silicone from implant leaks can also be removed.

WHO NEEDS BREAST IMPLANT REMOVAL?

In some cases, it is medically necessary to remove or replace a breast implant. The most common reason for implant removal is hardening of the scar tissue around the implants. This hardening is known as capsular contracture. It can cause pain, discomfort or make the breasts look different than before. However, implant removal can be performed due to calcium build-up around the implant, implant leakage and implant movement or slippage.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF BREAST IMPLANT REMOVAL?

Many people undergo breast implant removal surgery with little or no complications. However, like any other surgery, breast implant removal surgery carries some risks. Possible risks of implant removal are as follows:

Bleeding,

Asymmetry

Seroma or collection of body fluid in the area of the implant,

Infection,

Numbness or changes in nipple sensation,

Scarring
